Lazy Sunday

Caught Lucas falling asleep outside. Personally, I'd rather be inside in the air conditioning.

Paying for pain

I never thought I'd pay someone to inflict pain upon me.

On Tuesday I had to get a follow-up mammogram as my one from 2 weeks ago showed signs of calcification. Well let me just tell you the follow-up hurt like a #@%*!. I thought they forget to let up on the pedal or something it was so painful. This is the whole reason in the first place why I never wanted to start getting them in the first place. Last year was my first mammogram. It went fine. Two weeks ago was my second one. It went fine. Then when they had me do this follow-up one, forget it. My mom got a bruise on one of her breasts almost 21 years ago, which turned out to be cancer. She had a masectomy, received chemo and is a cancer survivor. I've always been hesitant about getting a mammogram done as I've heard many years ago that they hurt. My doctor understood my fear. Last year I went and I was relieved it didn't "squish" my breasts like I thought it would, and felt no pain whatsoever. Now my doctor wants to send me to a breast surgeon to get a needle biopsy. I've also heard conflicting pain outcome stories on those too. And whose to say that the scarring won't turn into something. I don't know. Anyone have any experience with these?

On Wednesday I had my first lip wax done. Yes, I'm at that age where something needs to be done about that facial hair. It's been there a few years. I've been using the creme which works just fine. A friend of mine is an aesthetician and she has convinced me to do the wax. If she wasn't more than an hour away I would have gone to her, but she recommended a place that uses hard wax. I have to admit I was very nervous, and the only reason I kept putting it off was because I knew it would cause pain. It did, but it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Oh it made my eyes water, but I survived. I go back every 4 weeks, and I know I'll be nervous every time I go, but I'll be happy when I leave.

I think I'll choose the waxing over the mammogram any day. I hate getting older.

Enjoy your weekend everyone!

Halloween Dogs

Here's a cute Halloween Dogs Blog. It features a new dog every day until Halloween. My Holly girl is on September 21st.

Last weekend was a busy one. Went down to my parents to celebrate my mom's birthday. This is my mom, Lucas and Holly.

We also met a Facebook friend who lives near my parents. She has love for the same breed of dog, the Doberman. We got to me one of her pups too, Raven. She is such a sweet girl, both of them :)
This is me petting Raven with Lucas in the background.

Halloween photo submission

This isn't exactly the photo I submitted for my friends blog, but I thought it was funny with Lucas' tongue licking his chops because we're holding cheese.

Halloween

I absolutely love Halloween! A friend of mine has started posting Halloween pictures and now I'm starting to get into the mood. It usually takes me awhile as the hot weather doesn't get me in the mood for any holiday. She posted a link to a good Facebook page with lots of pictures and decorating ideas.

If anyone has any links to others, please leave a comment with them.

I also need to take Lucas and Holly's picture today with their Halloween attire on so I can submit it to a friends blog. I'll have to post it here later.

Have a wonderful Sunday...back to work tomorrow!

Wanted to post this before I forget. You can enter to win a case of Stretch and Scratch pads for one of your local cat shelter/rescues. I've ordered these in the past for my local shelter, which they said they love.

Holly growing up with Lucas

My husband was recently talking to me about how Holly has gotten more mellow as she's grown. I'm not so sure sometimes, as just a few minutes ago she was bouncing off the walls barking because the neighbor was outside walking their dog. This is the dog who lives next door that she seems to hate through the fence, but I'm sure she'd like once they met outside the fence. I call the neighbors dog Lucas' girlfriend (her real name is Cocoa), as he always enjoyed meeting up at the fence. That is, until Holly came along.

All these thoughts of growing up and getting calmer (ha!) got me looking at their pictures that I've taken since we adopted her in March 2011. I can't believe she's almost 2 years old! I wanted to share some, and I'm sorry if you think there are a lot, but I could actually post many, many more as I love them all. Hope you enjoy, and I hope you're enjoying your Labor Day!

The night we brought Holly home

I miss this little one and can't believe how she's grown.

She made old Lucas play

This is the rescue we got Holly and Lucas from. We
call him Uncle Gary. The guy in the orange shirt is
Lucas and Holly's dad.

This is typical Holly being very upset when Lucas has
a toy and she doesn't. EVERYTHING is Holly's. And
they have at least a minimum of 8 toys laying around,
but she wants that one!

This is at my mother-in-law's retirement party at our
house. My dogs are included in everything at our house.

This is at my parents house on Father's Day. The dads
got a t-shirt from the dogs.

Holly just loves being next to big brother Lucas

Our first Christmas together. Our local shelter
has this every year, and I'm looking forward
to this year again.

These are all my in-laws, with Lucas and Holly's
dad sitting next to them.

Of course Holly tries to get the front seat every time.

Lucas and Holly in their summer attire. Saw some ties on the
internet that I thought were cute. I sent them a question
and they never responded. So my mom having a
sewing machine, she made some for them for all the seasons.

Old photos

My grandmother passed away in 2005 at the age of 103. A couple years ago I ended up with a box of old family photos. I know it isn't all our family photos, but I was happy to see the ones I had. I passed them around to other relatives to see if they wanted any of them. I don't have children, and most of my cousins do have them so I thought they would want some of them for their children. They took some of them, but not very many at all which surprised me. Even my sister, but she never seemed to have an interest in this kind of thing. If I had children I would want them to know their past, and have a piece of it. But that's just me.

I'm trying motivate myself to go through them and find some people in them, or donate some of them. Some of the pictures go back to the 1930's from the St. Petersburg, Florida area where my grandmother vacationed from Pennsylvania. I was going to see if the Historical Society in St. Petersburg would like some of the pictures. I would love for people to have them that want them. Not that I don't want them, I just have no one to leave them to if anything happens.

One photo I found is of my grandmother and two other gentleman. It is labeled of a Christmas program and one of the gentleman's names. I actually found the name on Facebook with the area where she used to live, so I sent a copy of the photo through a message. That was about 3 weeks ago, and I still haven't heard back. I have a feeling this is going to be harder than I thought. I tried to find relatives of the man, but I don't think they have children. Hopefully I'll get a reply back soon. Here's a copy of the photo.

I love looking at old pictures. Hopefully I'll have better luck with the rest of them.
