Rosie Pics!

Rosie's dad came and picked her up Tuesday night.  I can't even say how much I miss this little girl. I'm so glad she was his personal dog because I honestly would have seriously thought about keeping her. Holly was mopey for a few days but Lucas is pretty happy things are back to normal, and so are the cats Patches and Lily. I have a ton of pics so I tried very hard to limit what I'm posting but it was very hard. She's quite the character.

On Father's Day at my parents house.

She loved all the toys to play with and tear apart.

Asleep under my chair at work.

Asleep in my car on the way home from work.

Asleep another day on the way home from work.

Smiling on Friday.

This is the closest the 3 of them were together for about 10 seconds.

Holly and Rosie playing. I love this one.

Next 3 pics are Holly and Rosie playing outside.

Holly waiting for "that" bone.

These 2 hear everything.

Rosie wanting the bone in front of Holly.

Rosie getting a little cheeky.

Rosie getting impatient because Holly has the toy.

Rosie still waiting for the toy that Holly has.

The closest these 2 were together. Rosie respected Lucas.

Some more playing outside.

Still Sitting

We're still puppy sitting little Miss Rosie.  I'm not really sure when her daddy is coming back.  I think on Monday.  My husband told him we were moving this weekend so he couldn't find us and take her back.  She is the cutest little stinker.  She's almost like a mini-Holly.  I laugh at Holly because she is getting a dose of her own medicine.  Rosie just loves to play, play, play.  And yes, Lucas is being an ass (excuse me).  For a few months now he's had some food guarding issues.  I usually get him to work through it with Holly, but Rosie is so full of energy and Lucas won't have none of that.  Also when she runs up to him all excited (which is 99% of the time) he growls at her.  It took him until Thursday, and he started getting a little better with her.  Today he even seems better yet tolerating her.  She just has so much energy and Mr. Lucas is a grumpy butt.  I think he's finally allowing Rosie into their pack.

The only thing I'm NOT excited about is that she isn't potty trained.  Now she stays in her crate all night and she doesn't potty, but she doesn't know how to ask to go outside or seem to distinguish sometimes that she has to go outside rather than inside.  I've taken her to work this week too and she's only gone outside twice and four times inside my office.  I can take her for a walk, come back inside, and she'll pee right away.  I think I've gone through about 5 rolls of paper towels.

Everyone is sleeping right at this moment and that's how I got on the computer for a bit.  I have a lot of pictures to load on my computer but that isn't going to happen until next weekend.  I will definitely post them though.

I'm not even sure why I went to work this week.  All I did was play with Rosie half the time.  Didn't feel like doing actual work.  I'm sure going to miss her.  I do realize that I do not believe I really want a third dog.  And if I do decide to get one, I believe I would look into getting a medium sized dog, 35-45lbs., so that way they couldn't get bigger than Lucas.  He has issues with small dogs, like really small dogs, and he likes to piss of the bigger ones too.  I'm definitely not thinking about it any time soon.  I need to go back to my normal routine.

Friday was bring your dog to work day.  Did anyone bring their dog to work?

It's been a hot one this week.  Hope we get a little bit of rain this weekend or I'm going to have to remember to go out and water my plants.  My three latest ones are pretty much goners already.  Potted plants just don't last around here.

Have a great Saturday everyone!!

Puppy Arrival is Today

I wasn't sure exactly when we would be puppy sitting, but it is today he will be dropping little Rosie off.  I'm trying to get all my laundry and cleaning done this morning so I can relax a little this afternoon when they come.  I didn't tell my parents that we will be having a visitor.  I'm still debating whether to mess with my mom and tell her we adopted another Doberman tomorrow when we go see my parents for Father's Day.  I'm pretty sure I will. hehe

I made an appointment next Saturday for Lucas to get another urine culture and sensitivity test done to see if his infection has gone away.  I hope so otherwise I might have to go to a specialist for this too.  He is also going to get blood work done again to make sure nothing else is going on with him beside his thyroid number being off a little.  He is still flaky and shedding a lot.   I'm also going to get a lump checked on his back leg that kind of popped up.  I need to get my boy back in shape.

Well I hope everyone enjoys their Saturday!! And if you're a father, Happy Father's Day tomorrow!!  And if you're a mother who plays a father's role, Happy Father's Day!!

Movin' On Up

The kiddos are not allowed on the couch, except for the times Lucas goes up there during the storms but he doesn't go up any other time.  Holly finally figures since she wasn't allowed on the couch, she moved up onto the loveseat.  She just started doing this the other day.  I'm okay with it as neither me or my husband rarely ever sit on it.  The only time I ever do is when I'm sick and use it to pull out the leg part of it to lay down.  It's been more or less Lily's (my cat) loveseat.  The blanket is where she sleeps on.  When we're in the kitchen, or should I say "daddy" is in the kitchen, Holly has to see what's going on.  So she props her head up to watch.  She's too darn cute, and I know she knows she gets away with it because of it.

I'm Excited!

In my "Doggy Visitors" previous post, we had a little girl named Rosie stop by with her dad.  Well her dad is going on vacation and somehow I actually convinced him to let us puppy-sit her for the week he'll be gone.  He is the rescue where my two came from.  He actually has to board most of his fosters, and he's bringing Rosie here and 3 of his other ones to another rescue near where I live to watch.  One of the other ones he's bringing is the one I gave a "Freedom Ride" for, Hunter.  I'm wondering if I, and the other rescue, might have time to meet up so I can see Hunter.  That would be nice.  So I'm excited to have a little one around, but I know I'll be tired from following her around...I can feel it already. :)  I just hope Lucas isn't an ass (excuse me) towards her.  He did pretty well last time, so I can hope he continues with the good behavior and not piss her off.

I stopped by the vet today to get Holly's nails trimmed.  They gave me Lucas' blood results.  He is normal but borderline on the thyroid test.  She gave me a few options.  One, would be to put him on a low dose thyroid med and re-test him in a month and see if the number gets better.  Two would be do nothing and re-test him in a few months to see if the numbers remain the same.  Third would be to do other blood work.  I'm choosing to do the other blood work first.  I don't want to unnecessarily put him on medicine for something if he doesn't need it.  He goes back for another urine culture and sensitivity test in about 2 weeks so I will get the blood work done then.

We also had our last visit to the neurologist this week, we meaning Lucas.  The doctor we've been seeing wasn't there due to a family emergency and they didn't know when she was coming back.  The doctor we seen this time seems to think most his problems stem from what he believes is Wobblers.  Lucas is no where at a point where he would need surgery.  As for the neck injury, he believes he pinched a nerve and that's why his front leg would extend out.  If he has any problems in the future he said they could put him on a prednisone treatment, I believe it was a 15-day treatment.  But as of right now Lucas seems to be doing better and he said to finish out what Gabapentin he's on then to go off of it and see how he does.  I like this doctor much better as the other doctor said he might have to be on this medicine for the rest of his life, which I didn't agree with (not out loud anyway).

I also had blood work done on my cat Patches.  Her fructosamine  number came back good.  Her thyroid number came back higher than last time, not good.  She doesn't want to increase her dosage yet until I have more blood work done to check her kidneys as with her age the medicines can affect them.  I think I'll just start a blood bank for my kiddos.  I think I'm going to start claiming them on my taxes too, at least for medical.

Had some bad weather yesterday because of Tropical Storm Andrea.  We had a tornado hit our area just after 7a.m. probably about 1 1/2 miles from my home.  That's a first so close for me.  I've been through 3 hurricanes and I do not want to go through a tornado.  I brought both dogs with me to work yesterday as I knew it would be bad weather all day.

Hope everyone had a good week! Time to enjoy the weekend!

Sunday

I reminisce about when I was little and how I used to love Sunday's.  It was a time to spend outside with my family.  My fondest memories are going out boating a lot.  When I think of my life, that is what I think of.

Today, now I think, darn, I have to go back to work tomorrow.  I actually took this past Friday off.  Unfortunately I picked up my husbands cold.  On Friday I started getting a sore throat.  I still only have a sore throat, which I'm surprised it hasn't moved to my sinuses yet.  I just hope it doesn't get too much worse as I'll have a long week this week having to work a full week.  The last 2 weeks I've taken short weeks so it'll definitely be hard this week.

I took Patches, my cat, and Lucas to the vet yesterday.  Both had blood work done.  Patches is diabetic and hyperthyroid so I had both those tested.  Hers is a routine check-up.  Lucas, I had a thyroid test done on him.  He's been flaky and shedding like crazy lately.  He's never been like this.  He's also gained about 6 lbs., I know, bad mom.  I wanted to make sure there is nothing going on with his thyroid since his retained testicle was removed a couple months ago.  I was told he would probably go through hormone changes, and I honestly believe he is.  Since Dobermans are prone to thyroid problems I wanted to start there.  Fingers crossed I picked the right one first.  Should know the results in a few days.

This was taken the other week. Holly hasn't been
using this bed. She prefers the human bed.

Sleepy Holly on the human bed.

Hope everyone enjoys their Sunday!! Have a great one!!
