I'm thinking life just got busy, sometimes overwhelmed, and I just couldn't get myself to sit down and post. Too much to go through to catch up, so we'll start from here.
Pugsley still has his "butt" issues, so the other week I took a stool sample in to have them send out to test for other things besides parasites. They finally just called me Friday and told me it came back that he has Clostridium perfringens. I had to Google it, so feel free. Basically it's a bacterial infection. Now he's on meds for 2 weeks and I'm hoping it well help some. I'm so tired of his poopy butt, but I'm sure he is more.
I signed Holly up for a free DCM screening for Dobermans at the University of Florida. I haven't had one done on her yet, and just on the cost of the ultrasound itself, it'll definitely be worth the 4 hour trip to Gainesville. Just 2 tanks of gas vs. the cost of everything I would normally pay. Couldn't pass it up. We go this Tuesday for a 12:30 appointment. Hubby is coming in case I get tired driving on the way home. Also bringing Lucas because it would be too long to leave him home all day. Lucas' age is not within the requirements or else we'd have him done too. He'll enjoy the ride. If anyone has a Doberman, I highly suggest you email Dr. Luis Bolfer at bolferl@ufl.edu or call (352)870-6395. They prefer email. They're doing the screening for a couple months, I believe.
Wanted to share some pics of some recent guests to our home.
This one is Rosie and Ace. Rosie is our usual house guest when her dad is on vacation. This time her dad went into the hospital to have a stent put in. All went well. Ace was supposed to be adopted the day he came, but the potential adopter brought him back after only a few hours. He was about 9 months old when he came, and let me tell you he was the best boy I've ever watched. I'm just sorry Holly didn't like him or I would have seriously thought about adopting him. We got to watch him and Rosie for 5 days. I'm happy to say Ace did get adopted. Phew...I'm off the hook. Thought I'd have to have a talk with Holly.
This is Roxy. She was just here for the day until rescue picked her up. She was a very active girl. Non-stop. Didn't even take a nap. She is about 9 months. I'm pretty sure she needs valium or something. :) She is a very good, playful girl.
This is Zeus. He was just here for a day too. He is about 4 months old and a little terror lol! He is the darn cutest little thing I've ever seen. Looks like a mini Doberman as he's so tiny, just 31 lbs. He did not like other dogs at all, but he settled down once the rescue came with a muzzle to help him deal with other dogs. The next day the rescue told me he was on his porch with the big dogs.
That's all the visitors we've had since November. I do love when they come to visit. I'm just hoping it's not hard on Lucas with his age and all. And Holly, well she can do without any except for Rosie. She loves Rosie.
Is this the look of innocence? I should change Gomez's name to Trouble.
And I leave you with Lucas. This was him on Thursday at my work. I felt just as thrilled as he looked at being at work.
One more thing, if you haven't watched this video please do. It'll make you want to sing and dance even if you don't like I do.
Welcome back! Of course I had to run over and see what you have been up to. Let me know how the screen goes. Yup, the DCM stuff is expensive as anything. I hope this is another group doing some research to fix this terrible disease.
ReplyDeleteI am jealous of all your dogs moving in and out of the house. I had a terribly sad evaluation a few weeks ago. I couldn't figure out how to take the little guy in with my stupid work schedule. Long story short, he was euthanized. Only 12 weeks old. He just couldn't make it. Came out of a known doberman puppy mill in the area. Just a heartbreaking story all around.
Poor kitty. I hope that he recovers. It is hard on you guys and hard on him. I am glad you are persisting to deal with it.
Take care! I look forward to hearing about Holly's exam. Hoping it is all clear!
