No New Ones and Decoration Time

Hope everyone had a great week, and weekend!

Well we decided not to adopt Fiona and Minerva, the two kitties at our vets office.  The second I seen them I was saying "they will definitely be coming home with me next week". Over the week I had time to think about it and how it would affect my two cats. In the meantime my husband was okay with getting them both.  We both went to the vet yesterday with both the dogs (Lucas was just along for the ride). We brought Lucas so we could see how he got along with the kitties if they were still there.  Well while we were waiting for a room, the rescue came and took the kitties to an adoption event.  I discussed it with my vet about what I would need to test for before they came home if I did adopt them.  I needed to plan how much money also because basically we would have to pay for these tests before we even adopted them to make sure they didn't have anything contagious.  Plus I didn't even know if the rescue would go for that or not.  Then we discussed how my two cats would do.  Her (as well as our) main concern was stressing out Patches, our diabetic and hyperthyroid senior.  Lily, I'm sure, would be fine with other cats.  She always got along with others.  Patches gets stressed and pissed off and likes to (I guess you could say) scream at other cats.  So we left to finish thinking about it.  My husband still was okay with adopting them, but I didn't want to stress out Patches.  So we're back at our original plan and waiting until they are both gone, then starting over.  I hope that doesn't sound horrible.  They are 18 and 19 years old and I believe they both need to finish living out their lives in peace.  I will have more cats again, just not right now.  I feel bad for Fiona and Minerva, but they are truly great cats that get along with both cats and dogs and I know they'll make a great addition to someone else's family.

Started going through some boxes yesterday to find stuff for a yard sale.  My mom is having one next Saturday and I'm going down with little Miss Holly.  Holly will be the spokesdog this year to collect funds for the rescue where we adopted her from.  Lucas had that pleasure last year.  I finally got around to my Halloween stuff.  Here's a couple of pictures of some of the stuff I put out.

Now time to get off the computer and finish the dog rope toys for the shelter that I've been putting off forever!  Hope everyone has a great week!  And Happy October this week!!

Happy Fall

Happy Fall! Okay, there, I said it.  This goes to everyone who actually gets to enjoy a fall where they live, unlike where I live, blah!  My mom has already decorated her house with fall decorations. I can't bring myself to put anything out yet because the minute I step outside it's still too hot outside.  I know, it should put me in the mood.  I do plan on breaking out the Halloween boxes next weekend.  I need to actually go through all my Halloween stuff because I'm trying to get some stuff together for a yard sale.  I don't have too much to sell so my mom will be bringing some stuff to sell too.  Not sure when this will happen, maybe in October sometime.

Woke up wayyy to early today.  Lucas woke me up because he threw up, of course in the bedroom, the only room with carpet.  I made my husband get up to take both him and Holly outside while I cleaned it up.  He wasn't happy because he'd only been sleeping for 5 hours.  I told him not my problem.  At least he went back to bad after he came back in.  I do plan on hitting the bed early tonight.

My sister called today and told me she wanted to ask me something but she already knew that answer would be either I couldn't or I wouldn't.  I said if it entails flying the answer is no.  I told her if I quit my job and could get on a plane before then I'd go to London/Paris with her and my niece next June.  But I know that's not going to happen.  And even if I did get on a flight that long and go out of the country it wouldn't be to there (just in case I never flew again).

Speaking of flying, I recently heard about some program they were doing, I believe in the Northeast, with autistic children.  It had to do with an airline having them come onto the plane as if they were boarding, and just get comfortable with it. They would go through the entire procedure like they were really boarding and going to take off (but didn't).  This made the children more comfortable with flying.  I really wish they would do something like this with adults.  I feel like if I could just know I could get that far and be okay, I'd go for it.  I keep hoping to hear of something like this.  One day.

Well back to work tomorrow.  My husband is taking 3 days off this week so he is really going to rub it in.

Hope everyone has a great week!!

Uh Oh and Cheese Time!

Another week down. Hope it was a good one for everyone!

Mr. Lucas had a non-anesthetic dental on Wednesday. I'm pretty diligent about doing his every 6 months as he has bad gums and teeth. But since he injured his neck in December I haven't done it since last year. I finally decided to do it after being reassured that they would be careful with him and if they couldn't do it easily, they wouldn't.  They called me when they were done and said he did perfect. They didn't push his neck up in any way. They took their time, which took them longer to do. I'm glad it went well because I was really nervous to get it done but glad he did well.

While I was there dropping Lucas off at the vet, they had a couple of 5 month old kittens up for adoption. To me they look older than that but it's been so long since I had a youngin'.  When Lucas went up to the cage they both came up to him to check him out. Come to find out they both like dogs. Fast forward, my husband picked up Lucas on the way home that afternoon and mentioned the cats too. Said he was playing with them.  Sooo, I told him that if they're not adopted by the 28th that we'll more than likely have 2 new additions to the family.  I really wasn't looking to adopt any more cats right now.  It all depends on after speaking to my vet too.  They were tested for feline leukemia but not FIV.  And I need to see what else I'd need to test for before I brought them into my home as my 2 cats now do not have any shots except for their rabies because of their age and health.  I'm not putting them in jeopardy with a newby.  I will see what the vet says. I have an appointment next Saturday with Holly's check-up so then I can see how she is with them too.  The rescue told me they play with other cats in their playroom, and they sent me a video of one of them with one of the foster dogs.  She was so good with the dog.  They both seemed very, very sweet and mellow.  I hate to say it but I'm excited yet nervous.  I can only hope they are both adopted by the time I get in there next weekend. Here's a picture of Minerva and Fiona.

Hubby was giving some leftover cheese to the three piggy's.

I finally finished my gift bags this past week and put them together.

Found a free app for an easy way to get all my kids on one picture. Now this might be changing next week. :)

Have a great Saturday everyone!

Mom Shirt, Pretty in Pink, and Leroy

Well I hope everyone had a good week last week! It was hard to get through a full week again after some short weeks.

A friend had posted a picture of someone selling some t-shirts on Facebook and I just had to order one. I received it this week and can't wait to wear it next week!

There was a fundraiser this past week for a Doberman who has had quite a few surgeries and currently has a feeding tube. She was diagnosed with severe ulcerative esophagitis and ileus. Her name is Georgia and she is actually the sister of Rosie, the Doberman puppy we had the pleasure of puppy-sitting in June. I received a beautiful pink leash for Holly that a supporter made for the fundraiser. I'm waiting to order her a new harness like Lucas', but of course in pink.

Yesterday we went down to my parents to celebrate my mom's birthday. Her birthday is the 17th. We made another trip to Ikea first because I wanted to get another bookcase and a few shelves for the wall. Then we went to eat at Ruby Tuesday's.  On the way home I went to meet up with an old friend as I haven't seen her in about 4 1/2 years. It was nice. We went out to eat then spent time chatting at her house.  She's had a rough time with some of the men in her life.  The only thing I can do for her is listen as she is the only one who can move forward, as I told her.  She tends to hold on to the past for way too long.  I did meet one man in her life, her boy Leroy. He is such a great boy and seems like such a love.  Told her next time I will bring Holly down for a play date. Hopefully Holly won't be a chicken.

Well I hope everyone enjoys their Sunday!  Until next time!

Play Ball

Hope everyone had a good week! It was nice to be a short work week. Wish we could do that all the time!

Lucas has never been a "playful" type of dog. Just recently he's actually trotted after the tennis ball I've thrown a couple feet for him, and picked it up. He so proud of himself when he does it, and so am I. He's so funny to watch. Now Holly, she loves to chase the tennis ball. She doesn't always bring it back, that's why I have about 8 out in the yard so I can keep grabbing one and throwing it so she can keep chasing. And of course ALL the tennis balls are HERS.  Here's a few pictures of Lucas looking at the ball. Holly is keeping an eye on him in one of them because when he doesn't pay attention she steals the ball from him.

Received a few more things for the baskets this week. I ordered the can lids from a rescue site, and she actually sent me the doggy poop bags for free. The other item is a dog shampoo soap bar. I've never used one myself and I hope they'll like them.

Hope everyone enjoys their weekend!

Wine Bottles and Results

Well I hope everyone is enjoying their Labor Day weekend! And I hope you don't have to work!

A few weeks ago my husband enlisted the help of one of his friends to donate some wine bottles to me for a Halloween project I seen online.  I have one bottle left but it probably won't be done until tomorrow as the color takes awhile to dry so I thought I'd post what I did.  I thought they were a cute, easy project that anyone can do.  Halloween will be here before you know it!

I went for my follow up appointment on my upper endoscopy last week.  It showed a little redness which would be common with acid, but otherwise the results were good and showed nothing.  I'm not allergic to gluten either which they test for.  So yet again he sent me home on the same medicine I have been on, now twice a day (which I've done before too).  He did add Pepcid once a day which I haven't tried yet.  We did discuss the fact that it seems to happen more so when I am stressed which he said there are nerves there that can be causing it if it is stress.  There are times when I don't feel stressed though that I do have this tightness in my throat so I don't really know.  Just the tightness can stress me though. It aggravates me more than stresses me, I guess that could be the same thing??  So I go back in the middle of November and see how I've done.  I didn't ask him if there was something for those nerves. I'll see how this goes.

I took this past Friday off and did some running around.  I went to 5 different stores and I was pooped after that!  I didn't even get to all the places I wanted to.  After 6 hours of running around I had enough.  I did stop by Petsmart and bought a bad of treats and a toy they had on sale for my baskets.  I'm determined to finish these baskets by the end of September.  I still would like to buy a few more things.  I also had some empty baskets here but I think they'll be too small so I'll have to find some at the Salvation Army.  I also want to go by a party store or somewhere to see how much some plastic wrap costs to cover them, maybe with paw prints.  Don't want to spend much on it though.

Between yesterday and today I've been trying to clean and straighten up around the house so I can do nothing tomorrow.  Forgot to mention I also bought 9 yards of material to make some more toys for the shelter here.  I know, I said I wasn't going to do it anymore.  It's such a pain, in my hands, my neck and my back, but I really want to be able to do it for them.  If I take my time and do so many a day like I did last time it won't be as bad.  I bought the material on a good sale on Friday too.

Well I hope everyone enjoys the rest of their weekend, and their Labor Day.  Don't labor too much tomorrow if you can help it! :)
