Lucas' New Harness

I finally bought Lucas a harness.  He's always had a regular collar but since his neck injury I've been wanting to get a harness.  I wanted to find one that he wouldn't have to step in to which would be easier for him, so I bought the Sure-Fit harness.  I really like it.  We adjusted it some today. I know it will have to be adjusted more but I'm waiting to actually use it on him to see how it is.  I plan on ordering one for Holly next month.  She already has a harness but it is old and a little chewed on, thanks to Holly.  Here's a picture of Lucas' dad fitting his harness on him while daddy's little girl sits next to him.

Doesn't he look thrilled?

Halloween and Sunbathing

Hope everyone had a good week and is enjoying their Saturday!  Boy is it a hot one here today!  I let the dogs out before because they have been inside pretty much all morning and this is what they do.
I really don't know how they tolerate the sun and the heat. Of course I yell at them to get inside after about 5 minutes just because I can't stand it outside anymore.

I have a partner on my seat whenever I'm at the kitchen table. Whether I'm eating or I'm on the computer, Lily wants to share my seat with me.

I started one little Halloween craft last night.  Hopefully I'll have it finished next weekend.  I'm taking off this coming Friday so I'll have a four day weekend.  I need a break because I feel like I'm starting to get burned out at work because I haven't had enough vacation time away from there.  I've had a day off here and there but I haven't had any week off in almost 2 years.  My job is pretty simple (for me) but I still need to get out of there before I do something drastic, like quit!

Anyway...I can't believe Halloween will be here before you know it!  Then the next dreaded holiday, Christmas!  I haven't even thought of something to make for everyone this year.  I need to start looking around because if I don't find something soon, I won't be doing anything.  I have to go by Michaels next week for some ribbon so I'll have to remember to take a look around for some ideas.  If anyone has any ideas, please share.

Well I'm off so I can accomplish some stuff around the house.  Hope everyone has a great Saturday!

Rocky, Gift Baskets, and Ikea

I really don't know where the time has gone.  This weekend flew by and I'd like the next one to come up real fast so I can get some more stuff done.

Last week I took Lucas to work one day and we had a visitor.  His name is Rocky, the Corgi. His dad works for our tenants and asked if I could watch him while he went to lunch with his wife.  Well, we ended up having him all afternoon until I left.  I thought I was going to have to take the little bugger home and bring him back.  Lucas was a very good boy.  At first he was leery because Rocky went underneath him and Lucas does not like that at all.  So I separated them for about 10 minutes until they calmed down and then they were fine the rest of the day.  Rocky is 9 years old but he sure doesn't act like it.  Here he is with Lucas.

Found a great toy at Pet Supermarket which was on sale for a good price for the gift baskets I'm working on. I had to go to 3 different Pet Supermarket's to get 4 of them, but I found them all.

I also ordered these paw print heart stones (which I have previously ordered for myself) from another rescue for the gift baskets. I try to order from places which benefit other rescues at the same time too. It's a win/win for all.

The hard part I'm having trouble with is what kind of treats. I was going to order from an online friend who makes cookies but they are rather expensive, and if I bought a less quantity and divided it up between the 4 baskets it wouldn't be very many treats for each dog.  I wanted to buy a bag of small treats (maybe training type size) and try to stay around $5-7.  I was looking at one bag that a friend bought my dogs, a good small bite size, about $5, but the expiration dates were expired so now I'm afraid to get that kind. I think I'll check at other pet stores and see what they have.

We went to Ikea for the first time on Saturday. I never knew a store could be so big and you don't know it when you walk in.  I was looking for a new bed frame, a lower one.  The one we had was high and I wanted to make it easier for the dogs to get up and down. You know, it's all about the dogs. We found a great one that we are both still getting used to.  Holly loves it.  Lucas, well I don't think he'll ever jump up on the bed again no matter how high it is.  He did go up once and my husband said when he jumped down his back legs buckled.  He thinks he was expecting a longer jump. Lucas is one that doesn't forget.  We also found a bookcase that I wanted for our bedroom, and hubby got a new computer desk.  In a few weeks I'd like to go back and get some floating shelves they had and also one more bookcase.  Hubby had a lot of assembling to do this weekend but he got it all done.  The hard part is to put everything in the bookcase and computer desk how you want it.  I was really surprised it all fit in my van.

I brought Holly to work one day last week too so I could get her nails trimmed.  Doesn't she look thrilled?

I finally ordered Lucas a harness which I received yesterday.  Now we just have to adjust it properly.  It's called the Sure Fit harness.  I wanted one to where he didn't have to step into it.  We'll see how this one goes.  If I can figure it out and it's easy enough to get on and off then I'll be buying one for Holly girl.

Well I hope everyone has a great week! It's Tuesday already...three more days!!

Quiet Day

Didn't do much of anything today.  Finished up laundry (fun), watched a couple shows I recorded and basically was a lazy person today.  I hate not accomplishing anything.  All I think of at this time of the day is that I have to go back to work tomorrow.  At least in a couple of weeks we'll have Labor Day.  Next Saturday I plan on going down to my parents.  For some reason my mom all the sudden doesn't feel like driving up anymore.  There is a train they can hop on down there and take up here and I can pick them up, but she's all nagging for some reason.  I really need to try to convince them to move closer to me.  Sooner or later they will have to move, it's inevitable.

This morning I noticed one of those bounce houses in the neighbors yard behind me.  I thought, oh what joy, a bunch of screaming kiddies today.  Well it's not too bad with the kids because all I hear is Lucas barking.  The knucklehead.  Whenever he hears someone yelling he barks.  I just wonder how the wife is controlling her urge to yell and scream as I haven't heard her yet.  It's a sorry situation because when they fight all I hear is the wife yelling and screaming and the f word flying, with the kids in close proximity.  I wish my older neighbors were still there.

Not too much going on this week.  Have to take Holly in for a nail trim one day.  Go to Sam's for my parents another day.  Would like to try to go in for my pain treatment of lip waxing but I think I'll hold that off until next week.  My husband always is kind enough to offer to do it for me with some masking tape.  I decline his gracious offer.

Well I hope everyone has a great week! Until next week!

Upper Endoscopy - Check

I had the upper endoscopy done yesterday.  Now I know I worried over nothing.  It was absolutely the easiest procedure I have ever had done.  The only time I have ever been knocked out was for my wisdom teeth about 25 years ago and it was the worse feeling.  I was sick after too.  When I told the anesthesiologist yesterday, he told me times have changed and it is much better now.  I didn't feel the dizzy feeling this time when I was knocked out, thankfully.  It was one, two, then I was out like a light.  I'm not sure how long it took but I was in there for a total of half an hour before I walked out.  They said I could sit and wait awhile if I preferred.  I told them I preferred to leave because my husband could help me out anyway.  I was a little woozy but otherwise okay.  The only bad side effect was the bloat feeling because of the air in your stomach.  That only lasted for about an hour then went away.  I'm soooo glad it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.  I would actually get it done again if I had to, well except for the amount of copays, I had to pay for 4, yes 4, different bills.  A couple more of those and I'll be at my out of pocket deductible for the year.  The doctor did tell me he didn't see any erosion, he did see some redness, and he did take some biopsies.  I go back for a follow-up appointment in 2 weeks.  Fingers crossed it's just some sort of allergy I'm dealing with for the tightness.  Hopefully I'll have an answer in 2 weeks.

I had to take this cute picture of Lucas and Holly the other day.  They rarely lay this close together, so it's nice to get a picture of it when it happens.

This is my newest find at the Salvation Army. The teeth are kind of weird but it still is kind of cute, I think. Instead of an candle on the top I was thinking of filling it with those little plastic spiders or something like that.

I hope everyone had a good week! Glad this one's come to an end as it was better than I thought it was going to be!

The Neverending Closet

I don't mind cleaning but I hate trying to organize. I can't tell you how many times I've cleaned out our one hallway closet, yet it still looks like I've done nothing to it.  It's a small closet but I feel like there's a trap door in the back somewhere because it keeps filling up.  I did find a couple things to donate.  Most of the stuff went in the garbage that I did pull out.  I took out the last 2 tennis balls and was waiting to throw them outside for Holly but she seemed to find them on the table.  She had her head on the table a few times looking at them

For some reason I feel like going through the house and throwing out the stuff we don't use. I've controlled myself to the one closet because I know doing the rest is more than I want to do, plus I need a good two more days at least.  Think I might go through my bedroom drawers while I'm in there watching tv tonight.

Well enjoy the rest of your Sunday, wherever you are!

Baskets, Old Videos, and Doctors

Well I hope everyone had a great week! Why is it when you get older they just fly by so fast?!

I received two more items for my gift baskets. One is a keychain. I have one that I use and I love it, so I thought I'd share with the adopters (and with a little advice from The Quilting Doberman, thank you).

The other thing I order is a 1,000,000 Doberman bill. My husband bought me one a few years ago and I thought it would be a cute little gift. Kind of like hitting the lottery by adopting, is what I was going for. This is the front and the back.

I am ordering one more people thing, then I will start on the Doberman things like treats and other goodies.

We have a local Swip Swap page that someone advertised they transferred VHS onto DVD. I had some old videos from 1997-1998 that I dropped off to them last week. I picked them up Monday. It's great to be able to see what was on them. I had them labeled but it was still so long that I didn't remember. Most of them are with my sister and niece, as she was just a little baby.  I took some video while I was visiting them in Alaska, and now it even makes me want to move there more!  I wish I had actually taken some video of my first dog Jake.  I still have a few more to watch so I'm hopeful he might be on one of them.  I didn't use the video camera for very long. Not like now-a-days, just break out the good old phone and shoot some video.

Last year I was diagnosed with acid reflux. I've been to three different doctors but I still have a tightness in my throat that just will not go away.  I went to see a gastrowhat-ever doctor this week. He wants to do an upper endoscopy, which is what my last doctor had suggested for them to do (but I didn't mention it).  I was a big chicken with my breast needle biopsy last year, and this is just as bad if not worse because they will knock me out.  The only time I've ever been out was for my wisdom teeth and it was the worse feeling in the world.  Anyway...they scheduled it for this coming Thursday, of course I told them it all depended on what my copay will be.  I'm drowning in medical bills from everyone in my house right now and if it's something ridiculous it'll have to be saved for. I always put myself last though. I think that I use that as my excuse sometimes.  I'm going to try not to think about it because I'll just make myself a nervous wreck.  With my luck they won't find anything wrong and I'll have done this for nothing.

Well I hope everyone enjoys their Saturday. It's overcast here today thanks to the remnants of Dorian.  I like it like this though.  Now if it was just 30 degrees cooler.
