After the storm

Well we didn't get much of Tropical Storm Isaac's wind, but we did get about 15" of rain in our area. Thankfully only our yard was flooded and we didn't have any on our street or in our house. A lot of other people in the western community weren't as lucky. Houses got flooded, and a majority of people couldn't leave their homes because of the water levels. The worse was on Monday, and on Thursday a majority of the water was off of our property. Yet again, others are not as lucky as there are still some stranded. Then I watch the news and see what Louisiana is going through yet again, and I count my blessings. I hope those people have the strength to clean up and build again. I don't think I could do that more than once.

This is one side of our yard. It's about 3/4 of the way gone now.

My little Holly girl was funny the way she trotted around in the water. I think she's
the first dog I've owned that actually likes the water. She still chased cars along the
fence through it.

Brought my boy Lucas to work a couple times this week.
This is his pathetic look, as in why did you stop petting me mom.

Well I hope everyone has a very nice, long weekend off.

Storm

Oh what fun during hurricane season. Now we're under a tropical storm watch for Tropical Storm Isaac. At the beginning of the week the news had us in the center of the "cone". Now we're out of the "cone", but we still have a watch in effect. Hopefully the wind and rain won't be too bad Sunday and Monday. I'd hate to have to drive to work in that.

For those who live on the west coast of Florida and along the Gulf Coast, be prepared and be safe.

Bug off

These are bandanna's I bought my two kids. They are coated with some kind of bug deterrent that should help with mosquito's and other annoying bugs. I got them for the mosquito's a few months ago, and I didn't need to pull them out until now. These blood suckers are relentless so hopefully these will help some.

This is where I'd like to be

Need a change of scenery after 43 years. Some time in the future I will be on the west coast somewhere.

These pictures were taken in Alaska. My sister lives there, and the last time I could get on a plane (in 1998) I went to visit.

Don't remember exactly where this was taken, it
was on a day cruise we took out of Seward.

This was also taken on the cruise.

On top of Eagle Glacier near Girdwood. My sister
got married up here. We had to go up 3 people at a
time on a small plane, and when they dropped us
off they left a survival kit too, just in case of weather
changes. Scary but exciting and beautiful to be up there.

Not sure where this was. This is my niece.

This is where I am

Gonna be another hot one today. Thank God for air conditioning.
These are a little taste of where I live.

Took these on Lake Worth pier. There is a stingray in this one.
There were also sharks down there.

My furry ones

The one's that are happy to see me every day, no matter if I'm in a good mood or a bad mood. The one's that are there no matter what. They may not talk back, but I don't need that. All I need is them to be there.

Lucas is my black Doberman. We adopted him in October of 2006 when he was about 2 years old.
Holly is my red Doberman. We adopted her in March of 2011 when she was 5 1/2 months old.
Patches is my calico cat. We adopted her in 1995 when she was about 1 1/2 years old.
Lily is my black/white tuxedo cat. We inherited her from my husbands friend who passed away. She's 17 years old.

This is from the night I brough Holly home.

This is from March 2011. Holly is now bigger than Lucas.
