A Few Updates

I hope everyone had a great week!  Been kind of a long a rough week for me.  I had to put my one cat Patches to sleep.  She's been having problems since December.  After many vet visits since then, and after her last episode Wednesday morning, I brought her to my vet Wednesday night to let her go.  She would have been 20yrs old in April.  I miss her so much and I feel like I don't know what to do with myself without taking care of her.  I know it will get better.  Just wish I could fast forward. I tried to post her picture but I'm still having a problem posting pictures. She's my calico kitty.

The Doberman portrait that a 13yr old girl drew for the Doberman rescue to auction off brought in $175. I was very happy. At first it wasn't going anywhere, then thankfully someone saw it in a group and that is who won.

I'm also happy to say that the rescue purchased a 2001 Ford Windstar on February 1st.  I believe it has about 98,000 miles. We're hoping he gets at least another 100,000 miles out of it. My husband knows a mechanic who goes to auctions and found this one for him. He seemed very happy with it, and I know he's even happier right now knowing he doesn't have to call AAA to come pick him up (knock on wood). :)

Yesterday I went down to my parents. My dad wanted to go to Seminole Hardrock Casino to play some slots. He won $52. My mom won $38. I won zilch. We had fun. Then we ate lunch and went back to their house so I could do their taxes for them.  On the way home I stopped and met a Facebook friend who also owns a Doberman rescue.  It was nice to meet her.  She works at a pub, where I went to meet her, and she was busy of course.  I felt like I was part of a family there with her customers.  They were the friendliest group of people I think I've ever met, especially being in a bar.  Several people came in with their dogs and the last couple came in with their Dobermans.  The wife was really friendly, and come to find out she comes up to my area to work and she will also be showing her one Doberman sometime in March in West Palm.  If I remember I will have to check the fairgrounds and see when they hold those shows and try and meet up with her again.

I think in about 10 days we will be dogsitting for 2 Dobermans.  The rescue guy is going to Seattle for a little vacation and mentioned that his Rosie and Sophie wanted to stay with us while he was gone.  We watched Rosie the last time he went on vacation and she was a doll, also non-stop.  Now he has another girl Sophie who he decided to keep because she fits into his pack so well (and loves Rosie).  She's also a sweetheart.  I'm just wondering how in the world I'm going to handle 4 Dobermans for at least 10-12 days.  I'm trying not to think about it, lol!

Well I hope everyone enjoys the rest of their weekend!  I sure hope I can figure out why I can't post pictures anymore.

  1. I hope you can figure out your photos too!

I am so sorry to hear about Patches. That must have been rough and it is extra hard in my opinion when your day included a care-giving routine. 20 years old! That is amazing, and such a long time to have a special cat in your life. I am thinking she was a rescue too?

4 dobermans? I get kind of excited for you about it. I will probably be harder on Lucas?

    Keep in touch! Sam

    1. We adopted Patches from our county animal control shelter in 1994. So many years with my girl. I still remember the day we adopted her. I picked one cat and my husband picked one cat to adopt that day. Patches was laying underneath newspaper and I thought she was just the cutest. So glad I found her.

I'm glad someone is excited about 4 Dobermans, lol! That's what I'm worried about, Lucas. He's a tough one to get along with others. I'm thinking there will be a lot of separation during that time but I hope things go smooth. It took some time for him to get used to Rosie when she stayed with us last year and now I'll have two...eek!
